Senter Scores $10K Win in 600 Nationals
Lonnie Wheatley, LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (September 16, 2006) – Osceola, AR, hotshoe Travis Senter, Jr., made the most of a slight home track advantage by pocketing $10,000 after winning Saturday night's inaugural 30-lap 600 Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires feature event at I-30 Speedway. Senter rocketed from the fourth starting position into the lead on the opening circuit and paced the field throughout, surviving several cautions along the way to secure the win aboard the Holthouse Farms/Stallard Chassis No. 22T machine. "Having some laps here before this race definitely didn't hurt," Senter commented afterward. "But what really made the difference was Mike Ward running that Sprint Car feature right before our race and letting us know exactly what the track was like." In addition to finishing fifth in the Sprint Car feature, Ward also piloted Senter's team car in the 600 Nationals. Indiana's Nate Lauderbaugh earned the pole for the 600cc Micro feature by virtue of winning the 6-lap Sawyer Chassis Dash for Cash and led the feature field to the green flag with Pennsylvania's Ben Murphy alongside. But it was second row outside starter Senter who snared the lead on the opening round. Lauderbaugh was closing in on Senter as lapped traffic was becoming a factor with just six laps to go, only to have a caution appear for Chris Lloyd, who came to a stop in turn four. With open track, Senter then raced to the checkered flag unchallenged. Lauderbaugh settled for second, with Tennessee's Eric Wright advancing from sixth to take the show position. After picking off a handful of positions to cross the stripe fourth, Donnie Ray Crawford was disqualified when he failed to report to the tech area. Murphy claimed fourth after the disqualification, with Oklahoma's Kevin Bayer rebounding from an early tangle with Jake Mosley to round out the top five. Austin Laskey claimed sixth, with fellow Oklahoma racer Jerrod Wilson earning a $500 bonus from www.600scene.com by capturing the race's Hard Charger award with a drive from 23rd to seventh.

Sawyer Tops I-30 Speedway's 600 Nationals Prelim Lonnie Wheatley, LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (September 15, 2006) – Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Scott Sawyer proved to be the cream of the crop by wiring the field to win Friday night's 20-lap feature as 124 drivers from 16 different states descended upon I-30 Speedway for the opening night of the inaugural 600 Nationals.
Sawyer gunned into the lead at the drop of the green flag and held on to record the victory, locking himself into Saturday night's $10,000 to win finale along with the balance of the top six finishers, which included Chris Lloyd (Moore, OK), Ben Murphy (Enola, PA), Nate Lauderbaugh (Kokomo, IN), Eric Wright (Goodlettsville, TN) and Travis Senter, Jr. (Osceola, AR). Indiana's Jonathan Hendrick earned the pole position for the 600cc Micro feature by accumulating the most points through heat and qualifying race action. Hendrick charged from tenth to win the evening's seventh heat race, then advanced from tenth to third in the first qualifying race.
But it was outside front row starter Sawyer, who raced from seventh to second in his heat and then ninth to first in his qualifier, taking the early lead. Sawyer's quick pace was interrupted just once when Steve Milton and Nick Bailey tangled in turn four on the fifth lap.
John Paynter prevailed in a multi-car battle for second and closed to within several car lengths of Sawyer at the stripe, only to be disqualified for weighing in below the minimum required weight.
The top six finishers (Sawyer, Lloyd, Murphy, Lauderbaugh, Wright and Senter) are locked into Saturday's Sawyer Chassis Dash for Cash, which will determine the alignment of the first three rows of the championship feature event, while the balance of the field will start from scratch in the quest to fill the 24-car feature starting field.
Dean Alexander finished seventh in Friday's feature, with Matt Covington, Austin Laskey and Jerrod Wilson competing the top ten.
